Pardon the cynicism.

She and James wrote the book on how to use public office to rescue otherwise relatively powerless, moneyless and childess lives.

The two peas in a pod are now considered to be power couples in DC and are sure to try their hands at political dynasty and book writing.

Will she go to Cable News part time as so many other musical chair occupants have?

I agree Bush has gone too far with his attacks against Christian leaders and his support of the idea that Islam is a religion of peace plus his connection to a Hezbollah supporting billionaire. Powell is a voice of reason on Iraq, but supports appeasement everywhere else, which is why I have called for his replacement. John Bolton or the recently sacked Otto Reich would be good choices. Reich would be a particularly good choice given the recent Marxist takeover of most of Latin America and would send a strong signal that the Admininstration's policy of appeasing Marxist and Communist thugs is at an end. For more on the threat from Marxist-dominated Latin America, please see the Center for the National Security Interest's website

You took my comment in EXACTLY the wrong way. )g) I lived a long time in Texas, and can understand the appeal of even the ugliest Cajun.

Have NEVER trusted her since she's married to snakeman.
I never did get why she's always suspected of being a "mole" and he isn't. She's clearly the dominant one in that relationship, even calling him Serpenthead in public...LOL.

My suspicion: she's not into administrating. She's more of a campaigner. Her talk show may be coming back eventually.

Yes, Nutmeg. In fact if Mary hadn't been so busy shagging the Serpenthead during the 1992 campaign, perhaps Bush Sr. would have beaten The Rapist from Arkansas. They "courted" during the campaign. (The thought of which makes me want to throw up....)
She was one of the few people on that campaign that wanted to win. Gawwd, I hadn't been involved in politics in six years and I came up with two TV spots far better than the pablum Bush the Elder put up.

Matalin and Serpent were seeing each other before the campaign and put their relationship on hold for its duration. Afterwards, she was so pist she wanted nothing to do with him for quite awhile. Had some of the others on the team (including Bush the Elder himself) cared that much we might have never had a President Sinky.

True, but my father's entire family lives/lived in Chicagoland. None of them ever sounded like her!

The same thing happened to the Reagan conservatives. The Rockerfella part of the party some how always pulls the strings. That is why this country is finished.

There were rumors that the "moderates" in the Bush Administration would try to force the resignation of "conservatives"

Should be the other way around. These people had better start noticing who butters their bread.
They try to alienate the conservative base in exchange for the moderate democrat vote, they're as good as gone.
Buh bye Republican vote.

---

You got that right! Can't vote Dem because then the Pubbies will think we want more Liberalism. The only alternative is to vote conservative 3rd party, which I'll do, and not look back. We got the old 'things will change to more conservative' with Bush in the WH. If the conservatives get dumped, then I guess we'll know where the WH is going.... and it will be time to find a place where we are accepted. Going to take a while to get a third party strong enough, so no point in wasting more time on false Republican dreams, err make that 'schemes'. The sooner we start working on a third party the better.

Actualy, she has no sense of style to kiss or sleep with the enemy---Not to mention, an ugly one.

Probably perverted too ----isn't Larry Flynt a very good buddy of James Carville? not to mention the Clintons....other famous perverts who are his friends. Of course Matalin would have to be perverted herself to get under the covers with Carvilles ---she must have a X-file fantasy.

OK,OK...I keep promisin' to learn that "sarcasm off" thingee. I was kinda kiddin'about her being a DNC mole. But it just seems strange that she quits NOW.

If she got to sit in on a lot of meetings these first two years,(the good "just the Rebub party" ones,),the information from those would have really been valuable to the DNC to try and take back the house, and increase their senate majority, but now that the election is over, the meetings wouldn't be worth much to a "election mole"....so why hang around??...Back to the Crossfire gig??...It has to pay fairly decent...

...I can kinda hear James tellin'McAufull.."Hey,I got yer back,we got an inside track!!"......but election nite didn't quite work out....that's why I said he'd have to start wearin' the wastebasket FULL TIME!!!

I like Mary. If anybody came off badly, it was Carville. She outplayed him.

Who wore the trashcan, after all?

As for what goes on under the covers, at least they're married and interns would appear to be unmolested. The whys and wherefores of love are mysterious indeed.

Hope she returns to punditry.

It also appears at this time that the "new economic team" will be no different from the "old" team. And this Iraqi thing could yet blow up in the face of the second Bush. Bush II could become the reincarnation of both his father and GA Jimmy -- foreign policy mistakes and economic woes. Now maybe these doomsday scenarios won't happen, but they could. Ever since the dismissal of the "old economic team," things have spinning out of control for the GOP: Landrieu reelection, loss of LA House seat, the Lott fiasco, the refusal to reappoint conservative Otto Reich, appeasement of Brazil. And for Lott to resign now would be the greatest victory yet for the forces of PC.

Agree with you on just about everything you said here especially the part about Bush following in the path of his father and risking his Presidency over Iraq, a war which will only further depress our marginal economy. I do agree with you though that a Lott resignation would be a victory for PC and that would be a downside. However, if Lott could be replaced by a conservative like Nickles it would be a victory for conservatives. However, there is a lot of risk in this course of action because Lott could be replaced by someone less conservative like Frist.
