I remember my Dad writing a letter in support of his co-worker, an engineer from West Germany (this was 20 years ago), who was here on a temporary visa and wanted to get it extended. The company needed the man's services, but his request to stay in America was denied. Go figure.

Obviously the man could contribute in a meaningful way.  We can't have that now can we?</sacasm>

A dumbed down populace is easier to control.  A dumbed down illegal population is even easier to control.  They have the threat of "our way or the highway" hanging over their heads.
