Now, one more time: saying that Strom Thurmond, running on an explicitly racist platform that Stom himself has long since disowned, should have won that election--
I still haven't seen anything racist in an off the cuff remark to an old man at a birthday party. But to be brutally honest, it is hard to see how Strom being elected in 1948 would have been worse than the sorry state of affairs we have today.
