Actually Lott does have a bit to do with the immigration issue. He's one of the few republican politicians who have actually endorsed putting troops on the border. Granted, he had to be pinned down to say it, but he said it nonetheless. Look at the way President Bush snubbed Tom Tancredo for refusing to lock-step with the reconquista. Could be that's another reason President Bush is so keen to join with Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and the dems in running Lott out of town on a rail.

The party has certainly come a long way from Ronald Reagan's Thou shalt not speak ill of another republican. I don't particularly agree with much of Lott's positions, but he's a damn site better than the leftist RINO's who vote more with the socialists than conservatives. But I guess we'll keep them as long as they're acceptable to our enemies.

You want to talk about principles? What principles are being displayed by the President to do this to a leading Republican Senator over a few stupid remarks? What principles are being shown by the refusal to close our borders or even reinforce the border patrol when our country is supposedly at war with "the axis of evil"? I am beginning to see a pattern of behavior developing in President Bush that involves betraying his supporters and members of his party to curry favor with leftist groups.

Hell, I wouldn't blame Lott one bit if he quits the senate after all the "support" he's gotten from his fellow republicans. Do you think he should be grateful for being stabbed in the back and thrown out by his own party just because those moral paragons in the racial exploitation brigade say so? He's probably feeling the same level of gratitude towards the Republican Party I do when I think of the border situation.

I kind of doubt the immigration problem is going to be solved by President Bush making judicial appointments, when all his previous actions have been to keep illegal immigration going strong and our borders wide open just to suck up to the Hispanic groups and the Mexican government. The same way he's sucking up to the NAACP and the dems with the Lott situation.

Funny how "principles" come out suddenly when here, at least, EVERYONE called for Lott's head just two months ago. Now its about "immigration?" Gimme a break.

As for Lott's statement about "putting troops on the border," why would you trust what he said about that when (if you are one of those calling for his ouster just months ago) he was not credible then. I want to know where all these people who suddenly find Lott such a STRONG and CREDIBLE leader were last year?

No, you immigration guys are way off base on this one. It has nothing whatsoever to do with immigration, in any way shape or form. Honestly, some of you are getting as bad as the pro-life kooks, about whom EVERY SINGLE thing in Washington revolves.

Immigration is an issue. We need to deal with it. But it is completely separate from this Lott thing. Rush is right, this needs to be attacked head-on as being about race and hypocrisy, and to muddy the waters with immigration reduces the important debate we need to have about both issues.
