I wouldn't characterize what Lott did as "spouting."

Sounds like semantics and what the meaning of 'is' is. The new republican majority's first challenge is to choose new leadership that is representative of the party today. They should follow the lead of their president, who is the reason they have a majority in the first place. Failure to remove Lott from his leadership post before the start of the 208th congress, would be a fatal mistake for the entire republican movement in the United States. (IMO).

I was never a fan of Lott's leadership. I wished he had either stepped aside long ago or not forced the vote back in November. I do not think he has to leave the Senate.

I also don't think this will play as big of an issue in 2004 as scaremongerers here are trying to make us believe it will.
