There is nothing to suggest Lott has done a racist act in the Senate. This speach is not revalent as to how he does his job it can eaisly be believed that he ment nothing offensive.

If deep down in his heart he belives Storm war right it is irrevalent as long as he never acts on those feelings.

We live in a society where Blacks are allowed to have Black only events yet Whites are not. That makes it difficult for even the most loving person to not feel discrminated against. It also reminds people of the terrible things that happend fourty years ago.

Show me how Lott has mis-behaved in an official capacity or shut up. Lott hired black assistants far sooner than almost anyone else in Washington. He always voted for laws that treat all of us the same. What more can we ask for?

By itself, no. But the guy's track record going back a few years allows a reasonable person to call his motives into question.

He has committed the unpardonable sin of being an incompetent fool. If he were merely the senior Senator from Mississippi, it'd be an issue for discussion between himself and his constituents in 2006.

The question that nobody is asking is: is this an issue limited to only Trent Lott or would the "honorable" thing to do be to "out" everyone in the Senate with a potentially racist past once and for all?

If the media want to be intellectually honest about the whole issue, why stop at Trent Lott? Why not, at the same time, call for Robert Byrd, Fritz Hollings, and others to step down too?

The selective moral outrage expressed by the Democrats and the media will only harm them in the end if they persist in shrill attacks and denial of liberal bias while continuing to behave the way that they are.

Lott should get out of the way as Senate majority leader, but not over this. This is outrageous and I think we have to stop giving in to this kind of incessant racist whining. Civil rights was passed nearly 40 years ago. These people need to get over it already. If there is legitimately active racism in this country any more it is coming from Rat blacks, not rep whites. Personally I am sick to death of every white person in America constantly being expected to apologize for everything that was ever done to people who are no longer living BY people that are no longer living.
