A few moons back we had rented a townhouse while waiting for the closing of our then new home. Our next-door neighbors (in one townhouse) were a 20 year-old Turkish single mom with a 4-year old daughter, a 32 Y.O. white homosexual male with a 40 something, married boyfriend, an Iranian architecture student with his Asian girlfriend and a 38 Y.O. black male who was a golden gloves boxer and YMCA counselor from New York City.
It was quite a household but the fun didn't end there. One day, the boxer's girlfriend from NY showed up and promptly moved in. She was Mexican and, get this.... a dwarf!
I could have written a sitcom. I was talking to Rob (the gay fellow) one day and asked him if he ever got everyone together for a "family" picture, could I get a copy. Unfortunately, or rather fortunately, our house closing went off without a hitch and we were out of there in 3 months.
Well now that's a damned shame.
Just think of what Time would've paid for such a photo.
...I mean such diversity, raw & uncut.
