Lott is a drag on us nationally. He has been for a long time. Even arguing the merits of his case at this point is reinforcing failure. We must seize the opportunity to remove him from the Senate leadership now. This is not about "fairness" to Lott. What happens to him is irrelevant. Think about who would be President now if Gore had called on Clinton to step down instead of extolling his "greatness" at the time of impeachment. We can no longer carry these coon-ass bigots on our backs. They belong in the dustbin of history, not our future.
