Poll: Public Supports Action Against Iraq

An overwhelming majority of people in the United States, 91 percent, say they do not believe Iraq gave a full and accurate accounting of all weapons of mass destruction in a weekend report to the United Nations, a survey released Wednesday says.

But the public wants the United States to be patient.

The CNN-USA Today-Gallup poll showed a majority, 66 percent, want the United States to wait for U.N. inspectors to find evidence of such weapons before deciding to invade Iraq.

The poll suggested public doubts about whether the U.N. inspectors will be able to find any such weapons that Iraq might have. Seven in 10 in the poll said they doubt that the inspectors can find the weapons if Iraq has them. Six in 10 say the United States needs to publicly present any evidence it has of Iraq's weapons capability.

The poll offered more evidence that the public has mixed feelings about military action

When asked simply whether the United States should invade Iraq to remove President Saddam Hussein, people say 'yes' by a 55-39 margin. But people who support and oppose an invasion of Iraq are not firm on their feelings. Two-thirds of each group said their position depends on what happens in Iraq in the next few weeks.

Asked whether the United States has done all it can to solve the problem with Iraq diplomatically, people agreed by a 52-44 margin. Eight in 10 said the only way to disarm Iraq is to remove Saddam Hussein from power.

The poll of 1,009 adults taken Dec. 9-10 has an error margin of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Another worthless poll from CNN-USA Today.

Why doesn't Fox News-Washington Times put out their own slanted poll?

Probably too embarassed to engage in that sort of journalism.

I think if everyone knew the real facts, and weren't blinded by partisanship and or a fear of conflict, then we would have 100 percent support.

Yesterday on Greta Van Susteran's show she had a surgeon defector from Iraq who had been ordered to cut people's ears off, and he refused and fled the country.

This man said that the Iraqi people are PRAYING that we attack, and are PRAYING that we are serious about it this time.

OK, reality check...
I know for an absolute fact that 91 percent of Americans could not find Iraq on a map, if it were the only country on the map with the letters IRAQ printed within its borders. Has anyone in that survey read the report given to the US authorities? How would they know? Are they privy to the intel that the Administration says they have implicating Iraq in having some bad-ass weapons?

What this poll is really saying is that 11/12 Americans have heard that Saddam Hussein is such a bad guy, that he must be cheating. 91% of Americans do not know anything about Iraq, except that it has been in the news quite a bit. We know that the Administration has been successful in building its case to go to war, even though they have presented zero evidence that they have weapons that we don't like.

If it were in the media enough, we could convince at least 80% of Americans that British Honduras has communist soldiers who want to strike the United States with B-3 stealth spy rockets, and take all of our Viagra to Gondwanaland and give them to Quaker terrorists.

Americans believe what they see on TV. If we keep saying that Iraq has "weapons of MASS DESTRUCTION" (gotta love the focus group wording), then by golly they do.

Most Americans can't distinguish between Martin Sheen and the real POTUS. Who cares what the polls say? Show us the intel and then attack Iraq, if it warrants the loss of American life.

What's on Springer?

Further evidence that the US population is among the dumbest on the planet.

Waiting for Fritz Blitz, or whatever his name is, to find "WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION" [oooh, the thought...] in Iraq with his team of Keystone Cops, is laughable. This is made to order by Hussein.
