I've wanted Trent Lott's head on a platter ever since I read David Schipper's "Sell Out". I thought he was weak during impeachment, "Sell Out" showed he was downright criminal. Lott getting the boot on the basis of being stupid is not ideal, mind - but it's better than him remaining where he is.

Regards, Ivan

I'm no fan of Trent Lott, and in fact his inept leadership culminating in his remark about the Kelly Flynn affair caused me to re-register Libertarian after 20 years as a Republican. But Horrowitz is just plain wrong about this one. To dump him at this point would only embolden the RATS and perpetuate the double standard whereby Pubs are forced to resign for the most insignificant trangressions (remember Newt Gingritch, Speaker Michaels, Sen. Packwood?), but RATS never do.

But what other way could it have happened? When he was in college, he was a chearleader for the Ole Miss Rebels. This incident makes him a Rebel without a clue.

That is a great point and I totally agree. I think the quicker Lott gets the hell out of there, the sooner the Left is out of the headlines for this sort of crap. I think Lott has been extremely weak as Leader, and remember, he over compromised with Daschole last year when Bush took office. I think PR wise, the best move is for Lott to be out.

Cousin....

Remain where he is....I wanted Lott gone, years ago, however, we should not forget one thing, if he were a democrat there would be no firestorm. The dems and media are the real hypocrits.

Thank you, Ivan.

You express the reason why the "FIRE LOTT" mania has broken out on an otherwise rational forum for discussion.

This is about a grudge. And that's all it's about with the goobers on this forum.

Thanks, Ivan, for reminding me why I despise this man so much. He's a follower at best ... certainly not a leader.
