I don't think he should leave the senate, not even the democrats are asking that. He should resign the leadership post, and we'd still have 51 seats. You point about senate pro tem byrd is right on. In fact is'nt it mr byrd who would be behind the house speaker to become president?

I don't think he should leave the senate But don't you see ? it doesn't matter what you think--if Lott steps down over this "racist" incident - he will never be allowed to stay in the Senate -- the Dems. and compliant media will railroad him out so fast your head will spin. We must let this die down (the news isn't all over it this morning) and worry about replacing "no-balls" Trent as ML a little later
