I agree that the context makes it virtually certain Lott was talking about Thurmond.

But were you challenging my ability to speak English, or my knowledge of the historical context? I could have sworn you were talking about the former. I think my misreading was natural, because I think it was the more natural reading of the language. I was wrong, but because of the context.

Again, let me ask, do you deny that Drudge's English is ambiguous? Are you able to speak English? I have already asked you these questions once, and you did not choose to answer them.

Good grief, man, the only way you can claim that is if you're a recent graduate of the public school system.

I read it once and realized that Mr. Lott was speaking of Mr. Thurmond.
