LOTT SAID IT BEFORE (Drudge Siren)

After a fiery speech by Thurmond at a Mississippi campaign rally for Ronald Reagan in November 1980, Lott, then a congressman, told a crowd in Jackson: "You know, if we had elected this man 30 years ago, we wouldn't be in the mess we are today."

Nice to know that there's some sanity in here. The problem, and many have helpfully pointed out that it is a bipartisan issue, is that many people still haven't realized that it's actually morally wrong to tell people where they can be and what they can do based on the color of their skin.

Thurmond may have realized it, and I believe that Byrd probably figured it out over the years, even if he stupidly used the N word on tv to make a point, but there will always be a Trent Lott, or some of the Democrats I suspect but won't defame without some evidence, who will prove black people's worst fears about the all-white club which is the United States Senate.

The simple truth is that the Democrat Party's history during this century is one closely aligned to bigotry in a record stemming largely out of the liberal New Deal era up until the modern day. Bigots are at the center of the Democrat party's current leadership and role models.

Just because Dems are guilty of it, that doesn't make it OK.

It allso began when Bush slammed the Christian leaders here in America and said Islam and Allah are peaceful. Nothing has gone right since.

As much as I don't like Lott, there is a bigger picture here. It's what all of us cry about here at FR. It's the First ammendment to the Constitution that recognizes our right to free speech. To blast Lott because he is a totally ineffective leader is one thing, but to blast him because he exercised his First ammendment rights is tantamount to hypocrisy, especially for anyone here.

Fine. I apologize if I offended you.

HAHA! you're a funny guy tonight Poohbah.

I told you yesterday that Lott should have went on the offensive. He should have said I'm not a racist nor a segregationist and anybody that says I am is a damn liar.

Tonight I'm telling you that there is no room in Congress for CONSERVATIVE racists and if Lott steps down, he'll end up stepping out.

How much do you want to bet that it was a Republican that dug up this news story to get Lott out of his majority leader position? That's what my money's on. And to that Republican, I say, "Nice job."

If Lott were to go beyond stepping aside as Leader and retire from the Senate, with Democrat Mississippi Governor Musgrove still in place (until Haley Barbour wins next fall), then we all know what Vacant Lott is made of...in spades.

the all-white club which is the United States Senate.

All-white? Aren't you ignoring Ben Nighthorse Campbell, Daniel Inouye, Daniel Akaka?

Intelligent people can handle things intelligently. Lott can step down as Majority Leader graciously, and continue to serve, without coming out and "admitting he's a racist."

And, just exactly how would he do that, with the press and the Black Caucus hounding him every day?

Lott has already humiliated himself, and his party, with his words. If he has any cojones, he would swallow his pride and stay on for the good of his party (and his country).

Swallow his pride for the good of his party? What kind of dumbass are you?

You know what I would do if I were Lott? I'd tell all you dumb-sh*ts to pound sand.

Trent Lott could make millions in the private sector as a lobbyist.

Why would he put up with the grief and humiliation from the likes of you?

Exercising your First Amendment rights is well and good. When you exercise them in a way that demonstrates that you are either stupid or evil, then everyone else has the First Amendment right to demand that you suffer adverse consequences for your speech.

We blasted Cynthia McKinney's flagrantly stupid and constitutionally protected speech. We wanted her out of office. Some Freepers worked to make that happen.

You're telling them that they had no business trying to muscle Jihad Cindy out of office.

I'm telling you that you're full of shhhhaving cream.

He can step down from leadership in a way which he only admits that he's a tacit fool and that it's time for someone else to try on the big shoes of leadership.

And yet he has been re-elected over and over again by the people of Mississippi. Cripe, if the people of Miss. can forget about it, why and the hell can't everyone else? The answer? The Dems are STILL upset about getting their asses kicked in November and need revenge. Looks like Lott is the goat of the week.

And then this tidbit would have been dug up, and it would have made ol' Trent look like a lying sack of fecal material.

The proper thing to say would have been "It was a wrong thing to say, and I am sorry."

None of the phony "I'm sorry if I offended anyone" crap. That's not an apology.

Sometimes, you gotta eat the worms.

Too bad he'll be remembered more as an idiot who had no common sense and was run out on a rail by these type of events than his being a traitor...

Lott has to step down because the the 100 megaton political ads the 'rats are going to make, which will KILL the Republicans in the next elections, as more blacks than ever before go out and vote 99.9% 'rat.

Just imagine the Lott voice "we wouldn't have had all these problems..." over video of police dogs at Selma, Martin Luthor King marching, elderly blacks signing up to vote for the first time in their lives in 1965...

That ad will KILL us.

Lott has to go. He is a liability, an albatross, he has to go.

Problem here is that if he steps down .. he will step out of the Senate

And the Dems know this .. why do you think the are pushing this issue ..

If the Dems were really outraged over what they think was a racist comment .. they then need to have a long talk with members of there current party
