LOTT SAID IT BEFORE (Drudge Siren)

After a fiery speech by Thurmond at a Mississippi campaign rally for Ronald Reagan in November 1980, Lott, then a congressman, told a crowd in Jackson: "You know, if we had elected this man 30 years ago, we wouldn't be in the mess we are today."

It's a tacit admission that he's an idiot.

You're looking at this emotionally, too, Poohbah.

Prediction: If Lott is forced to step down as Majority Leader, he will leave the Senate.

Then you DHs will have to sweat bullets, hoping that Lincoln Chaffee doesn't pull a Jeffords.

You ought to be ashamed of yourself, my friend.

"Second for Frist."

Isn't Frist a homophobe? He voted against gay marriage. What would it say to the rest of the world if we put him in a leadership position. (sarcasm)

A prominent Dallas real estate attorney stepped forward to corroborate Arkansas State Trooper Larry Patterson after he claimed hearing then-Gov. Bill Clinton deriding a local black activist as "a G-d---ned n----r," only Fox News Channel covered the story.

"Democrats do it too" - Is that really all that the Republican Party wants to say about this?

NO, this is a classic example of Media bias. Why is Lott's praising of 100 yr. old Strom Thurmond more offensive to blacks than Clinton's praising of "his mentor" Fulbright? Both men had racist positions. Why did the media choose to be offended by Lott and never mention a word about Clinton? Media bias. The media is looking for ways to be offended by republicans and conversely, they don't even cover stories of democrat misconduct.

Where (non-sarcastic)?

From Senate leader Lott apologizes for remark, per AP.

Specifically:

One Democrat, Senate Democratic leader Tom Daschle, defended Lott on Monday, saying he had spoken with Lott and had accepted Lott's explanation that he hadn't meant for the remarks to be interpreted as they were.

"There are a lot of times when he and I go to the microphone and would like to say things we meant to say differently, and I'm sure this was one of those cases for him, as well," Daschle said.

What about an actual tape recording of a first family member repeatedly using the "N"-word?

"Some junior high n----r kicked Steve's ass while he was trying to help his brothers out; junior high or sophomore in high school," complained Roger Clinton as police investigating his 1980's drug dealing recorded his comments.

"Whatever it was, Steve had the n----r down. However it was, it was Steve's fault. He had the n----r down, he let him up. The n----r blindsided him."

While the Roger Clinton "N"-word tape has been publicly available since 1994, mainstream journalists have steadfastly declined to cover the story.

Neither Bill nor Hillary Clinton have ever been queried about, let alone apologized for, Roger's Clinton's "N"- word outburst.

Sorry it had to be this way, but he should've NEVER viciously gone after the Leadership position and then rigged the Leadership process.

How did Lott "viciously" go after the Leadership position?

This is a dumb statement, even from you.

And I will keep saying it until it penetrates that mass of granite that somehow got inserted in your cranial vault (they must've been back-ordered on brains).

LOL, careful, I have a sensitive disposition.

Oh, is that right? Am I your long lost father, dear? You need to work out the fact that people can have different opinions here. You are strange. But hey, arent we all sometimes? I'll leave you to figure it out. But I'm not your daddy. Sorry. Goodnight.

You're looking at this emotionally, too, Poohbah.

sinkspur, my thank-you note from ol' Trent for absorbing over four years of flames on FR because I didn't want his head on a pike was this latest round of verbal incontinence...a round he should have avoided easily.

Prediction: If Lott is forced to step down as Majority Leader, he will leave the Senate.

You're on. What's the wager?

Then you DHs will have to sweat bullets, hoping that Lincoln Chaffee doesn't pull a Jeffords.

How come Zell Miller never pulled a reverse Jeffords? Could it be that Daschle actually has something resembling leadership ability?

Just about anybody could do a better job than Trent the Neutered Village Idiot.

You ought to be ashamed of yourself, my friend.

My stick-in-the-mud morality has cost me much...except my self-respect.

Actually, I think you and your cohorts calling for Lott to step down are.

As long as he remains in place, he, (and Republicans by extension) is a lightning rod for continued liberal attacks. He needs to step down so this issue can be put to rest.

Would you continue to serve?

Intelligent people can handle things intelligently. Lott can step down as Majority Leader graciously, and continue to serve, without coming out and "admitting he's a racist."

Lott has already humiliated himself, and his party, with his words. If he has any cojones, he would swallow his pride and stay on for the good of his party (and his country).

Fine. I apologize if I offended you.

Does that sound like a frickin' apology, BTW? Because if it does, then you're a bigger idiot than I thought.

As someone has already observed, Dems are known anal sphincters.

Republicans are held to a higher standard--mostly because they espouse a higher standard.

If you're gonna talk the talk...better walk the walk.
