You have no obligation to create any private organization for the advancement of people who don't look like you. The problem is in attempting to use coercion or government force in order to achieve this.

This article is one of the most evil things I've ever seen. It's also intensely illogical. Apparently, the fact that black conservatives got jobs in so-called white corporations is supposed to be an indictment against them. Yet Jesse Jackson and others of his ilk have been trying to get corporations all over the country to hire black people!

As for white philanthropic organizations, I do not believe you'll find a single one of the top twenty foundations giving any amount of money to black conservative organizations. But the NAACP, Rainbow/PUSH and other left-wing victicrat organizations get millions every year like clockwork.

Finally, notice that he claims that black conservatives, since the 1970s, have developed a strategic dependency with the "Republican-led Congress". Marable is supposed to be a Politics and History professor, yet it's quite obvious that he is ignorant of the fact that Democrats led both Houses of Congress throughout the 1970s and only lost control of the Senate for six years in the 1980s (1982-1988). From 1988 to 1994, Democrats held both Houses of Congress.

I think David Horowitz needs to be notified of this idiot's article. It's likely he would know how to get this circulated among the alumni and parents of Columbia.

This is the problem with Black Leftists like Marable ... and the Left in particular. It's always either/or with them. You simply can't disagree with them on a single issue without them assuming that you disagree with them on everything.

If you disagree with the NAACP's contention that the moon is made of purple cheese, then you must also disagree with them on slavery, desegregation, voting rights, etc. So since Clarence Thomas disagrees with the Black Left on racial preferences, it must mean that he disagrees with them on the importance and nobility of the Civil Rights movement (circa 1960s), the 13th Amendment, etc.

What Marable is really complaining about is that Thomas rejects any notion of the concept that his career advancement was largely a product of racial preferences and quotas ... and was all a product of his hard work.
