Oldvike says Bush is afraid to mention the name of Christ. Okay (Easter, 2001):

"I am pleased to send warm greetings to all those observing Easter. On this day, Christians around the world join in celebrating the Resurrection of JESUS CHRIST, THE SON OF GOD AND SON OF MAN.

For Christians everywhere, Easter is a day when, in the words of the ancient Exultet hymn, the earth "rejoices in shining splendor, radiant in the brightness of its King." It is a time to be humbled by and grateful for God's sacrifice and boundless love and to rejoice in the sheer wonder of life and the promise of victory over death.

Easter comes at the end of the Lenten season, a period of penitence and solemnity in many Christian traditions. The Lenten season prepares Christ' s followers for the joyous affirmation that "Christ is Risen!" Holy Week activities, including Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, and Good Friday, remind the faithful of the events leading up to JESUS' crucifixion and resurrection.

Many traditions associated with Easter have become a part of our American way of life. Although these customs may differ, the universal message of Easter draws all Christian communities together. As families and friends gather to celebrate, we renew our commitment to follow the example of JESUS CHRIST in loving our neighbors and giving of ourselves for others. On this joyous day, let us also remember all those in need and those Christians around the world who are persecuted for their faith.

Laura joins me in sending best wishes for a wonderful Easter.

GEORGE W. BUSH "

Churches with Christmas trees are infested with Popish influences.

Your decent Christian Just appointed 5 PRO ABORTION judges to the NJ Federal Judiciary. Believe me, he is NO Christian.

Are there 5 PRO LIFE judges in NJ?

How do you feel about Catholic priests who break their church vows? Are they decent Christians?

Are many Catholic churches being led by indecent Christians in the United States?

While you're judging, which is worse to you, appointing 5 pro abortion judges to a federal bench or priests who sexually molest children?

How do you feel about the church covering up for the indecent Christian priests?

What criteria do you use to determine a "decent Christian" from an "indecent Christian?"

He tried not to offend and he offended.

He OFFENDED? I did not even get past this reply in the thread. I am just astounded that you are *offended* that the WH sent greetings to their supporters at this time of year. I received the card, my third from the Bushes (RNC), the first being in 2000 from the governor's mansion in Texas. That card had a Bible verse in it, too, if I recall.

Please explain what is offensive about this card. It is not enough to say it doesn't mention Christmas, for that is a bizarre reason. The Bible verse is profound, moving and a testament to the faith of the Bushes.

But he said "If you deny me, I will deny you".

You imply with this statement that the Bushes are denying God?

Read the Bible verse inscribed with the card and please reconsider this ill-founded statement.

Bush thinks it's ChristRamadaHannaZa.

No, he doesn't. There is NOTHING about this card to support your absurd comment.

I do not buy stamps unless thry have the relegious theme or the American flag.

Well, this card bore an American flag stamp. I suppose some will decry this also as the religious stamp was not used.

We got ours last week. Thanks for pointing out the Crawford postmark - I hadn't noticed that. We got one last year too. My guess then, as now, is that it has something to do with RNC membership/donations. Funny... we didn't get one from the Clintons. ;-) I do remember getting one from Phil Gramm a few years back.

That's a very cold Christmas card. A cold marble floor, a grand piano and bench, a sideboard table, a bouquet of flowers, a couple of candelabras, a window, a door, some curtains, a mirror -- what does ANY of that have to do with Christmas or any other holiday? It's generic to the point of being a nondescript nonentity. Even the psalm is generic. The only thing vaguely specific (ha!) is the mention of the holiday season. However, it could just as easily be used for any other "holiday". Yes, a very cold card.

There are many who don't believe Islam is the religion of peace but that doesn't stop him from saying it.

There were circumstances that facilitated him saying these words. Not because of a celebration, but to help Americans who had never been introduced to Islam to understand that not all Islamics are suicidal murderers, trying to keep innocents from zealots like you portray yourself from seeking out Isamics and killing them for revenge.

Try again.

Chirst was born, taught us the true meaning of the scriptures, and died for our sins. This card is a joke!

Were you not mollified that a quote from the scriptures, which you seek to find the true meaning of, was included in the card? For only the second time in history in a card from the White House? The first time was last year when the Bushes had the opportunity to send their first cards out as residents of that historic building.

Why is he ashamed about mentioning Christ at Christmas? He mentioned Mohammed and Allah for Ramadan.

You are wrong that he has not mentioned Christ at Christmas. He did not mention Mohammed and Allah in this card, now, did he? The card in no way shape or form means he is *ashamed* about mentioning Christ.

Bush lied to the American people by stating he found Jesus and was pro life, he waffled on the stem cell issue and just appointed 5 PRO-ABORTION Judges to the Federal Judiciary in NJ. President Bush is no Christian or a very poor one and is now one of Herod's Heros. If he is born again, he must be born again to Satan, No? Jesus doesn't vote for the murdering of his innocents and Satan does.

Forget the Bible verse. What happened to Christmas? Where's the Christmas in the "Christmas Card"? It's like issuing a proclamation about Martin Luther King Day and never mentioning Martin Luther King for fear you might offend someone.

It's Christmas. He knows it's Christmas and we know it's Christmas. But he couldn't bring himself to say it. It's like my kids' school. Every kid knew it was Halloween and they all dressed up one day but they couldn't call it "Halloween". It had to be "Fall Carnival".

I received mine last Thursday and was quite surprised by the ugly, non-CHRISTMAS like picture on the cover. It was in very poor taste to send such a SECULAR Card. I have to find mine from last year which I am sure was much nicer. I will probably discard this one, it's not worth saving. Let's keep CHRIST IN CHIRSTmas, obviously Bushy did not. There should have been a quote from the New Testament.

And what was so Christian-like by appointing 5 PRO ABORTION JUDGES IN NJ, Sounds more Satan Like to me. Bush is now a proud member of Herod's heroes....

Did you know that Bush 41, while a Congressman, was one of the primary authors of the Title X (funds planned parenthood and sexual health clinics in high schools) appropriation Bill? and his nickname among his peers was "rubbers"?

Last year's card featured a scene in the hallway, with a chair and a wrapped package. I suppose the package made it "nicer" to you. It also had a quotation from the Old Testament.

I assume that since you got a card, you either donated to the RNC or were a very active volunteer in the campaign. Which one...or both?

Forget the Bible verse.

I'd rather not.

"FOR THE LORD IS GOOD; HIS MERCY IS EVERLASTING; AND HIS TRUTH ENDURETH TO ALL GENERATIONS."

Psalm 100:5
