The GOP took a licking in LA -- Terrell was weaker in retrospect that Louis "Woody" Jenkins had been in 1996. And the Alexander victory means a net loss of one House seat for the GOP. The Dems won't let us forget it. Remember, when the Americans fought to a draw in the War of 1812. Yet, the battle of New Orleans, coming two weeks after the Treaty of Ghent, made the Americans feel that they had won the war. I bet the Dems will be saying that the second battle of New Orleans now gives them a moral victory in the elections of 2002.
