She said she had instructions from the store owner to record his license number as the local cops had told them meth cooks cut all the heads off the matches in order to use them in the process of making the stuff.

Cops told 'em wrong. The striking surface on a match book is made of red phosphorus, which you can no longer obtain in this country.

From what you said I'm assuming they are after the strikers then.I did find it a little strange when I saw the guy walk past us with a huge armload of book matches and a weird grin on his face.Local stores are always on the lookout for people purchasing large quantitys of over the counter cold medicines as it contains something the cooks want.I believe they limit purchases of that stuff to two bottles at one time.Any more than that and the person's license plate is recorded and turned into the authoritys.This kind of stuff is all Mickey Mouse compared to the quantitys the South of the border labs produce.All are dangerous though.
