Unfortunately, looks like I was right to call LA-05 a good pickup opportunity for the Dems. But even I didn't expect to have this much trouble with it after Nov. 5. I would say losing that one and Landrieu winning would make this a very bad day for the GOP.

I don't see how Bush's Friday afternoon massacre (of O'Neal and Lindsay) helped, either.

Increased the impression that the economy is in trouble and that Bush is desperate (even if it isn't true).

Not that bad. Landrieu would have won while identifying closely with Bush, and purposely distancing herself from Clinton and other high profile Dems.
That is not really such a big Dem victory.

If the GOP loses both the senate seat and the LA-05, we thank can sore losers like Gov. Foster, Rep. Cooksey, and Halloway. It seems like the LA GOP is make up of Sen. Bob Smith wannabes.
