Space Wrangler:

I know Germany had launch AND recovery systems for light aircraft from derigibles pre-WWII,

Wrong country, right time period

It was the United States that experimented with launching- and recovering - Curtiss XF9C-1 "Sparrowhawk" fighters from the USS Akron. Photos can be found here:

You may have been confused by an historically inaccurate scene in one of the "Indiana Jones" movies in which he escapes from a German Zeppelin in that manner.

Just think back to 911 and how many fighters we could scramble that day... a handfull.

Maybe because the money is being spent ELSEWHERE...?

<< the aerospike is lab and field proven, has been tested in the (Delta) Clipper project, and works really well >>

A linear aerospike was the intended powerplant of the Lockheed SSTO (single-stage to orbit) demonstrator known as the VentureStar (AKA X-33), a program that was cancelled in March, 2001 by NASA after years of delays owing, in part, to problems in the development of its ultra-lightweight.composite cryogenic fuel tanks.

Whether its supporters succeeded in convincing the Bush administration to revive the program as an Air Force special project is unknown at this time, but the fact that the Joint Chiefs have an Air Force general as their chief for the first time strongly suggests that the clout necessary to make this happen is not lacking.

<< Sadly, I suspect Clinton likely did un-fund the program if it existed. >>

After leaving office, President Bush (41) acknowledged in a public interview that the U.S. had indeed developed a very highly-advanced aircraft prototype which shared some of the characteristics that have been incorrectly attributed to the legendary Aurora, which was, in fact, nothing more than one of several budget line items used to disguise secret funding for the B-2 bomber during its development in the early 1980s.

Bush also explained that his administration did not permit development of the highly-advanced aircraft to advance beyond the prototype stage because it would have been -far- too expensive to build in the numbers necessary to fulfill its mission requirements.

I can't believe Clinton would not have trashed it. Spent the money elsewhere or gave the whole plan to China

Clinton was a loyal team player for the New World Order. Just like either George Bush. Why do you think they protected him by killing his enemies? Clinton followed NWO game plan the whole way.

The cuts in spending on DOD began in 1988 under Reagan. They continued through all 4 years of Bush 1, they continued for 8 years under CLinton. Actual increases did not occur until after Sept. 11, 2001. So, Clinton did nothing different from Bush on defense spending.

But during this time they increased dramatically spending on the CIA and the NSA. They've also got off-budget programs. I'm betting that enormous stealth efforts have occurred. The dis-arming has been a delusion.

If our 1999 war against Serbia is any indication of the character of the clique that controls america, then this concentration of great military power in the US is very bad news.

what it means is that 1 aircraft with 1 aircraft on top takes off from a regular airport. Then at high altitude the piggy-back aircraft takes off.
