This means everybody better just cool it!

I would dismiss this and all speculation about the aurora over the last 12 years as either tinfoil-hattery or misidentification of stealth aircraft... except that back in the '80's I eould have dismissed all speculation about stealth aircraft in the same manner. hrmn...
I dunno, but it'd sure be a nifty gadget to have.

Sounds like the author of the article got ahold of some bad vodka.
No offense, but I wouldn't believe anything in Pravda.

There is extensive info on the following site about this aircraft:
Aurora Page
I have not viewed the info yet, but I figured I would point it out and let people make up their own minds...the website claims to sort out fact from fiction about this aircraft.

if no enemy planes are flying that high, why do we need to spend the money on a plane that does... shouldn't we build a better weapon for the areas where there might be an enemy... it's another 700 dollar toilet seat if you ask me... /sarcasm
it's cool to hear of american ingenuity dominance... of course even if it is another starwars redherring, that is cool to that the enemy is falling for it

The source aside, why do you think this is so unbelieveable? How long was it before the public knew of the existance of the SR-71 Blackbird?
To: carjic
Maybe he thought the plane would get him laid. He'd have kept it then.

I wonder if it looks anything like this?

Beat me to it.
To: teeman8r
well, assuming a plane with these capabilities exists, think of it as a recallable ICBM...
To: carjic
sold. SOLD the plan to China.
To: teeman8r
Maybe we are preparing for a Goauld invasion...
To: vannrox
How are they going to dominate the Earth if they're a secret?

I have no idea why someone would doubt that the most technically advanced country in the world has a "plane" like this. Imagine being one of the test pilots asigned to this project!
To: vannrox
Well, let's see.
The Aurora rumor has been around since the 70's. See Jane's Defense Weekly.
According to Jerry Pournelle all the "X" projects have been cancelled. The X-37 may be restarted but it is a pilotless and powerless test bed that is only dropped from B-52s.
The Gipper wanted the US to develop a "space plane" but all the funding was cancelled during the Bush I administration to help further un-balance the budget.
The Russian press is interesting but often wrong. I would bet that they have continued this tradition.

I mentioned the source as unreliable. Do we have this new technology? Beats the hell out of me.
A lot of Americans believe we have secret weapons... I tend to doubt this.
Just think back to 911 and how many fighters we could scramble that day... a handfull.

That's assuming Clinton was allowed to know about it. If, and it is only an "if", black weapons development information was kept out of his and his administration's hands, whoever was responsible should be awarded a Congressional Medal of Honor (in secret, of course).
