The last one we had was the one legged General Fred (Freddie) Franks Jr. Remember the Iraq pictures of the road of death! Given a few hours and he would have been in Baghdad. His Armored Calvary group ridded us of a large number of Iraq armor – they never recovered.

Stormin' Norman claims that he almost relieved Franks because, in Gen. Schwarzkopf's opinion, Franks was not speedy enough in his flanking movement. I don't know who to believe in this matter: perhaps Gen. Schwarzkopf was just frustrated that the timing of his operation was disrupted by the unanticipated speed of the Marines' advance into Kuwait.
