Scientific Breakthrough Liberates Energy Users from Fossil Fuel Dependence

Technology breakthrough harnesses energy from the molecular structure of water

BOISE, ID - Dec. 5, 2002 - Genesis World Energy, a privately funded consortium created by a group of military and space program research and development specialists, today unveiled a scientific breakthrough that allows consumers to easily access the energy contained within the hydrogen and oxygen molecular structure of ordinary water. This scientific breakthrough provides a limitless, low cost and environmentally clean source of energy that can be implemented with minimal cost and effort. The viability of using water as an energy source, previously a theoretical concept, is now a reality. The technology is the result of nearly two years of continuous effort by a team of more than 400 visionaries from a wide spectrum of disciplines, including science, technology and engineering. Assembled as the "Genesis Project," the team discovered a way to extract far more energy from water than the extraction process itself required; differentiating this new fuel cell technology from any other development efforts thus far. The key component of the Genesis Project technology is the Genesis gCell, which through a series of electro-chemical processes separates hydrogen and oxygen molecules in water. The resulting gas molecules can either be burned cleanly as a replacement for natural gas or various other traditional forms of fuel, or may be remarried within Genesis eCells (an advanced fuel cell) to generate large amounts of electrical current. When both Genesis gCells and eCells are combined, the entire process becomes self-generating, recycling both water and electricity from the molecular reattachment phase. The Edison Device

The first application of this technology is represented in the "Edison Device," a self-contained, self-sustaining energy generation unit. Roughly the size of an outdoor air conditioning system, the power source can be quickly and easily installed in any home or business to provide virtually unlimited energy from any available water source. The Edison Device utilizes the existing electrical wiring and natural gas plumbing in a home or business to replace the energy provided by utility companies. The home version of the Edison Device produces approximately 30 kilowatts of combined gas and electrical energy per day. By comparison, the typical home uses between five to six kilowatts per day. The commercial model is capable of producing 100 kilowatts of energy per day. The energy generation portion of the devices has no moving parts. In fact, the only "mechanical" aspects of the equipment are small circulation pumps and micro-valves, making the Edison Device both silent and virtually maintenance-free. A minimum amount of water is used over an estimated 20+ years of service life.

Market Ready The commercialization of the devices is the responsibility of two business entities, Genesis World Energy and World Energy Management. Genesis World Energy is a technology development, production and supply consortium, while World Energy Management functions as the exclusive licensing representative for the worldwide distribution of Edison Devices.

According to Nejhla Shaw, World Energy Management President, "We will make Edison Devices rapidly available to governments and industries on a worldwide basis, with special licensing opportunities for those industries that will be most affected by the technology. For the first time in the history of the world, a clean and abundant source of renewable energy is as simple as the attachment of three wires, a gas line and a water hose."

Besides the energy-for-nothing flaw, I really like the part about putting the hydrogen right into your natural gas lines at home. It would make for some exciting times at the stove. When pure hydrogen burns, the flame is not visible. And if you have a hydrogen leak, you wouldn't know it until you heard "boom", unless you added a scenting agent like they do with natural gas. (Adding a scenting agent at each home could introduce some comical results as well.)

And then I suppose the "e-cell" produces 120v, 60 cycle power, right? And no rotating equipment except a small pump. No generator?

Here are two examples of the classic perpetual motion machine. It's usually done with weights, or ball bearings, or a water wheel. A few hundred of these are undoubtedly being worked on right now, even as we speak. Always, this work is done in the basement:

You are partially right. Hydrogen is a fuel and oxygen is an oxidizer. Energy is released (as heat) when you combine a fuel (Hydrogen, gasoline, natural gas, wood, etc.) with an oxidizer (Oxygen, Fluorine, Chlorine, etc.). This is called an exothermic reaction (a reaction that releases heat). The reason heat is released is because the product of the reaction (H₂O) has less energy than the individual reactants do (H₂ and O). Burning fossil fuels is also an exothermic reaction (C₈H₁₈ + 12.5O₂ = 8CO₂ + 9H₂O). Any machine that generates power does so by using the exothermic process of burning fuel. And all fuels have been created by adding energy that is eventually released when the fuel is burned. For example, fossil fuels and natural gas had energy created from the sun thru photosynthesis and the heat and pressure of the Earth.

Breaking water down into H₂ and O is an endothermic process (a process that consumes energy) and requires an input of energy. By the law of conservation of energy, recombining H₂ and O into H₂O releases exactly the same energy as was input to separate them. There is no way to generate energy from an endothermic process.

Genesis World Energy claims they have created a device that uses water as a fuel and outputs hydrogen gas and energy. To understand why this is a perpetual motion machine, imagine that the machine does not output hydrogen gas, but instead recombines and recycles 100% of the water it has broken down and outputs only energy. This machine would never need to be re-supplied with fuel (H₂O, which of course is not a fuel) but would output energy forever.

If you still do not understand why this device cannot possibly meet the claims it is making, do a little research on perpetual motion machines on the web.

The discussion of this story in Free Republic as the earliest, and the only forum where I've seen GWE (or Guy-Rome) respond. For the last few months, a few people have tried to make sense of GWE's claims. No. They still do not make sense. The most notble coverage of GWE has been from Bob Park at the American Physical Society http://www.aps.org/WN/WN03/wn011703.html#2, the most vitriolic has been from Mr. Hydrogen http://www.hydrogen.org.au/genesis%20world%20energy.htm, and the most extensive, outside this forum, from me http://members.cox.net/john.lichtenstein/.

If you have spoken with GWE or representitives regarding licensing, I would appreciate information on how the licensing plan will work. I have not figured out how the licensees are supposed to be robbed ^H^H^H^H^H^H capitalized. Also, I would be interested to know if there are any investors from outside the New York - Philly corridor.
