Tom and I aren't close, but I'll drop him a Ramadan card.
Otherwise, you're just stereotyping.
Yeah, hotheaded redneck that I am, it galls me to see this nation's chief executive placating the group that spawned al-Qaida. But I'll bet every one of these peace-loving citizens howled in outrage that their co-religionists would commit such heinous crimes. No doubt it would have been acceptable for Roosevelt to have high tea with Hitler too.
Such stereotyping might lead a lurker to think you're a hotheaded redneck, and we wouldn't want them to get that notion now, would we?
Whoa, are YOU perceptive! I'm torn between having lurkers think of me as a hotheaded redneck or a simpering coward who coddles our enemies. Hmmmmmmm.
Suddenly it dawns on me that I don't give a fiddler's fart what you -- or a hypthetical lurker -- think! That makes the decision much easier.
If mainstream Islam is responsible for al-Qaeda, then evangelical Christianity spawned the Ku Klux Klan.
Bush is not "placating" anybody. He recognized Judaism last Saturday at the beginning of Hannukah.
Bush is President of the United States: lots of different people and different religions. Just because you don't approve of one of them (hell, you may disapprove of more than one for all I know), doesn't mean that Bush should take your "us-vs-them" position.
In fact, it is a mark of his maturity that he doesn't.
