The fact that Namath took a physical is meaningless; many heterosexual males "came out" to their doctors to earn a deferment. Moreover, many, many doctors were not averse to doing favors for their client families and "finding" some dread ailment to keep the poor dear out of service. Thats OK, you don't impress me at all. And though I grew up in the brownstones next to Shea Stadium, I haven't lived in New York in many, many moons.

And by the way, my football talk is germane. You stated that Namath couldn't be 4F and play football. That statement was made from ignorance since you don't know that the physical requirements of a drop back quaterback vs those of a grunt are different.

I took the physical and passed. The physical I took was at the induction center in Brooklyn, N.Y. I also played football.

I played football in college with guys who wer 4F and guys who were recently returned from Vietnam. Everybody got along fine.
