[history]
As President Bush debates how to oust Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, White House insiders suggest so-called moderates within the administration are orchestrating a gradual purge of hard-line conservatives.
"Post-election plans," say White House sources, bearing the fingerprints of closet presidential adviser Karen Hughes, who abruptly departed the White House this year but keeps in close contact with the president.

Maybe Bush finally realizes that he is being rolled. Too much war spin. For years the mantra about inspections was 'Saddam kicked the inspectors out, let's bomb Iraq'. Now those inspections havc started. Now the mantra is 'inspections won't work, lets bomb Iraq'. Pretty slick rolling, eh whot?
Don't worry about conservatives leaving Bush, only the war sleeper cells will. But they have been more pro-war than pro-Bush. They are probably loading up their anti-Bush barrage now.

And where would it be going, one wonders? To Gore? Same line of crap the Blacks hear from the Demonrats. Maybe you didn't hear Donna Brazil's comments this week?
Bush can not continue equating all religions, or he will suffer the same fate as David and Sol, Lot and many other of God's chosen.

That one statement alone highlights just how "out of the loop" the source for this nonsense has to be... wishful thinking and trouble making from someone at State is my guess.
You just nailed it. It was leaked to McCaslin from the State Dept. The use of Karen Hughes is just a subtrafuge.
It wasn't leaked to the WP or the NYT because the dove in State didn't want to take the chance of it getting all blown out of proportion.

He could also be reporting someone's agenda. All this intrigue is so eerily simliar to the sniping that went on during the Reagan Administration.Rumsfeld was on his way out in the summer of 2001, Cheney is always THIS close to be off the ticket,Powell is the smartest man in the cabinet, blah blah, yet the demise of Bush's team is always just around the next turn.It wouldn't even suprise me if this was coming from a Bill Kristol gossip mill.
The doubters and second guessers never seeem to get it about Bush and his WH.You'd think that the Diullio mess this past week would have shown the gossips to be all wet.A hands off President doesn't change horses and let others know why.Period.

Personally, I think Rumsfeld is the best Sec. of Defense we have had in a very long time. Also, I think Bush is smart enough to know he needs Rumsfeld. Rumsfeld is his own man, Bush knows that and appreciates it. Most others in the cabinet could walk away tomorrow and the government would never miss a beat.
Looking back in time for such a strong personality in the cabinet, one would have to go back to John Foster Dulles.

This ought to really be a hoot!

If anybody in the White House were leaking to a journalist (when's the last time someone in the White House actually DID leak anything?), McCaslin wouldn't be the journalist. Not even in the top ten.

Either that, or the source did what Bob Woodward did with the "interviews" of Bill Casey.

The last I knew, in this country, a man was free to withhold his vote. Voting for someone because of fear of a greater evil is not mandated anywhere in the Constitution.
I have been voting for over 50 years, never voted a straight ticket and when there was no candidate worthy of my vote, I withheld it.
Sometimes it is unwise to fit others into the mold that is comfortable for others. It does not fit well most times.

"Bush can not continue equating all religions, or he will suffer the same fate as David and Sol, Lot and many other of God's chosen."
Sol ? uh, would that be Saul of Tarsus who became Jesus' beloved disciple Paul or King Soloman ? Lot ? do you mean Lot's wife ?

If you consider me 'demented' I must be right. And I also obey the house rules.
Please: NO profanity, NO personal attacks, NO racism or violence in posts.
Just wait and see. As soon as Bush hestitates on the war track, the anti-Bush barrage will start from the war sleeper cells.

That doesn't answer my question though. Your vote would go where?
Plenty of places to take your vote, (not that it's necessary in this case, but for the sake of argument)
You can take it to the Libertarian party, go Independent with it, give it to the Constitution party or you could just take it fishing with you on election day.
Personally, I am all in favor of a "None of the above" box on every ballot.. So that the least lousy of two horrible candidates will at least know that he won by default, not because of his policies or his politics.

You know, that is just pathetic on your part. Booga booga!
I think this article is a load of crap, but setting that aside, this kind of stock HillaryGore, boogieman, kool-aid drinking really wears thin, and sways no one. Rather than parrot paranoid groupthink, sit still for a moment and post something original and insightful.
I think you can do it.
