National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice Lauds Muslim Women for Work in Human Rights

The Associated Press

W A S H I N G T O N, Dec. 4 — National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice praised a group of Muslim female lawyers Wednesday for their work in human rights, saying their efforts were vital in helping those oppressed by religious bias around the globe.

She told about 60 members of Karamah that the human rights organization "is a constant reminder that millions of Muslims contribute to all walks of American life from education to science, law, business, public service."

Karamah educates people about Islam and advocates Muslim women's rights.

Calling Islam a great religion, Rice said people should not be treated unfairly because of their skin color, ethnic background or religious faith.

She noted there are many struggles under way around the world, including the fight against terrorism.

"As human beings we know that on every continent, in every culture, people given the choice between tyranny and peace, will choose peace," she said.

Rice said that democracy requires constant work, adding that it has been a continuous struggle even in the United States to live up to all the principles of democracy

"Democracy is a journey not a destination," Rice told them after a feast-breaking dinner during Ramadan. Marked by fasting from sunrise to sunset, Ramadan ended Wednesday.

Rice was presented with the Quran, the Muslim holy book.

President Bush planned to give an address Thursday at an Islamic center in Washington.

Well, all that needs to be said is... They better thank their lucky stars they are in the U.S., because they would be stoned to death in the Muslim countries. But then ole Demon Laden has probably already got a bomb with their names on them.

Bump. Say it. Why she is compelled to make these statements is PR obviously, but at some point, the views of Americans need to be taken into account, not this pandering to people who wish to annhilate us.

She is certainly doing a great job since then. She conquered Afghanisitan and arrested numerous terrorists. Is she really Wonder Woman ?

A great job since then?

Let me tell you something: After 9/11 no matter what Rice does or does not do, I have not respect for her performance.

A) I place little or no blame on Condoleeza Rice for the events of 9-11. The blame belongs primarily on the terrorists themselves, and on the evil cult which spawned them.

If any Americans deserve to bear guilt for the intelligence failures which allowed 9-11, it is the liberals in the Congress and the Clinton leftovers in the executive branch...and especially on Bill Clinton himself for his self-serving failed 'big carrot, little stick' foreign policy.

B) It is possible to offer some measure of support to dissidents like this group of women without giving tacit approval to the same Islamic ideology that has oppressed them---the ideology which is responsible for more oppression of women in the world today than any other.

The women who are speaking out, who are stating that there is a true Islam vs the radical Islam are extremely brave. They could lose their lives for their stand.

Certainly they could. But Bin Laden and his cohorts represent 'true Islam'...quit fooling yourself.

You bet your sweet bippy we'd vote for her for VP, but that job won't be open until VP Cheney is done in 2008,.. then we prefer President Rice!!

Ms. Rice is not fit to receive the presidential or the vice-presidential nomination of the pro-life GOP, since she is not pro-life.

Count me out.

No - but Rice had almost 9 months to do something.

Perhaps if Rice played the piano a bit less, and given her full attention to the terrorist threats?

"I'm amazed at the ignorance of some responses on this thread.

If people think we can not AFFORD to support those people who want "change" from the Wahabbi type of Islam, then I suggest they study what is happening a tad more.

So it is your enlightened opinion that a group of 60 American Muslim lawyers are going to turn the entire Koran and Islam upside-down??

The women who are speaking out, who are stating that there is a true Islam vs the radical Islam are extremely brave. They could lose their lives for their stand.

While they're in the United States? Hello -- The Karamah are American. I'd suggest you "study a tad more."

And as for the "brilliant" Condo Rice, she is a RINO extraordinaire -- unworthy of any true conservative's vote IMO.

Yeah, making more brownie-points. Nothing matters to the new GOP just as long as any group who is capable of swing-votes remembers this and the incessant Ramadan celebrations at the WH in time for the next election.

A little league towel person with wet dreams of washing the DNC Team Dimocrap's stars such as the Clintons', Macliff, and Reno jock straps ought to know.
