I loved Maryland when I lived down there many years ago. It snowed only once that whole winter.

Last winter, up here in Western New York, we had five feet of snow in one day last December. My gutters crashed down, and tree limbs kept falling on the roof.

However, we later realized that was nothing compared to the January ice storm which left us without electricy for two and a half days. That meant no lights, no furnace and no way to cook. A small woodburner in the family room kept us from freezing, but the rest of the house was icy.

Thank God for batteries in the radio. It kept us sane. Ooops, I'd better go get some new batteries.

1994 was the worst winter we have ever seen here in Maryland, We had 4 feet of snow on the ground after 3 storms in 2 weeks. Most of the roads were impassable and it was the only time I ever missed work over the weather. We had 10 foot snow drifts on our deck and we could not see out of any of the windows on the south side of our house. We were then told a heavy rain was coming and I had to buy a snow blower to keep the deck from being ripped off the side of the house because of the weight of the rain and snow on the deck. I built our deck myself and it's huge (almost 1,000 square feet) So I was in a panic. I spent 13 hours blowing the snow off our deck only to see the rain that was predicted deliver another 13 inches of snow. :-)
