Oh please you people with your forced oaths BS.. If you can't Pledge Allegiance to the country which has birthed you in freedom then either your head ain't on right or the only principle you stand on is the principle of no principles. If they weren't those of us who hold some allegiance to America then there wouldn't have been, nor would there be, anyone to protect your freedom. Furthermore we are talking about helping build good citizens who love their country. That forced oaths crutch is weak as all get out when talking about children and the Pledge. Children must be lead and taught. Adult weakness in dealings with children is bad for society.

Ahhhh maybe you are suffering from too much exposure to rabid liberals. Because my problems exist with requiring one to make a pledge. Not the pledge itself. The pledge is an oath of loyalty, not simple words to be repeated whether one believes them or not.

I do have a problems with forced oaths. What good is a forced oath? An oath is a commitment one does not enter into lightly. When I say the pledge, it is because I believe in it. I do not take the pledge to be simple words to be stated. I would love for all our children to say the pledge loud and proud but requiring them to be anything more than respectful during its statement reduces the point of the pledge in the first place.

When I grew up we said the pledge and listened to the national anthem. This was school policy and I am not aware of any law at that time. Granted alot has changed over the last decade or so but it still does not make sense to require one to take an oath by law.
