My father in law did 2 tours at Bien Hoa AFB early in the war after serving both in WWII and Korea.

I was at Bien Hoa, from 14 July 70 to 10 July 71. I worked in air conditioned comfort, though the air conditioning was to keep the radar cool, not necessarily us. I was not real thrilled about being there, however.

My father in law was there early on from 62-65 when they had severe restrictions on how and when to defend mortar attacks on the base.

He was a master sergeant USAF(39 years old) working on spy planes I think he lost a few buddies to mortars and even though he and his men had the implements to strike back against mortar positions they were ordered to refrain because of either it was the Army's job or the gooks were in civvie areas....wow how strange right...VC in civvie zones!

Anyhow....he's still pissed and will die pissed.
