Michael Eisner has dropped a double bombshell on Walt Disney's shares by announcing a federal probe of its boardroom and a surprise earnings reversal.
The company last night said profits would be about 20 percent lower than it announced four weeks earlier, blaming a box office flop of its new holiday flick, "Treasure Planet."

That's the rub ain't it; Pubbies are left without a chair when the music stops. And looking back, it seems to play out to a greater or lesser degree EVERY time there's a Pubbie administration installed. "W" would be well advised to seek out and destroy economic terrorists of the homegrown variety, eh?
If "W" is in fact obliged to do something, does it mean we are too far gone down the road to "corporatism" to ever recover our free market system? A TRUE free market system? Would seem so, but it's all way above my pay grade ; )
FGS
Why didn't I see that?
How'd I miss that smell?
...stupid-stupid-stupid! ;^)
That should be STOOPID, STOOPID, STOOPID!
Wimmins teevee doncha know. We're talkin' quality time here you neanderthal ; )
FGS
That would be Bruth and the boyths. </lithp> ; )
FGS
Starring Oprah, DonnyWho? and SlickWillieRapist...MUD
LOL...y'all gotta admit, when it comes to political astuteness, you wonderful ladies are the exceptions to the Rule!!
Bring it on if ya don't like it, I've got boucoups examples to buttress my point...MUD
BWAHAHAHAHAHA...not that there's anything WRONG with that...MUD
OK, I'll be the first to I admit it......when it comes to political astuteness, we are it.
Even though I don't know what "The Rule" is.
You got it, FGS, you nailed it first time, as always, w/ 20/20 bettering that of a hawk. (~raptor kind, ya goofball! ;^) )
Seems there's some kind of an algorithm to all this bullcocka.
The 'Rats appear able to play this cyclic phenomenon to the 9s; &, personally I find this condition most galling.
Here's how it goes...
'Rats give away the candy store to the *yokels* & in return they're revered, loved, viewed as, "saviors."
That is until said 'Rats run every & anything into the ground.
Then they're *fired*, right?
(~after said yokels have forgotten the damage the 'Rat(s) wrought, select 'Rats have airports, federal buildings named after 'em and statues erected in their memory -- all -- at our expense just as their *deeds* were in life. ~oy vey.)
Now after the wreck?
In come the newly elected 'Pubbies driving the, "Tow Truck."
Pubbies get the *privilege* of handing a hungover constituency the, "Body Shop," bill & jacking the, "Insurance" rates.
Forcing the constituency to swallow the bitter medicine since they're now the nation's, "Doctors," too,
Then the coup de gras when thet must preside over our -- the constituency's -- day in, "Court."
Stinks, huh.
A, "Good Cop-Bad Cop" shtick, this ain't.
Seems the Repubs have strategically placed themselves in the role of cleanup hitter; &, frankly FGS?
I don't see where there's anything that can be done to change that role; UNLESS, the Pubbies were to try the ol' switcheroo?
(~Which oddly enough, just such behavior(s) on behalf of some guys on the right might just be trying, is being discussed on another thread?)
"'W' would be well advised to seek out and destroy economic terrorists of the homegrown variety, eh?"
Damned right he would; but, can he?
We're talking about *forces* here that're, well, awsome? (~himbOww~)
There's some kind of *dance* choregraphed between the political & economic forces in this nation.
One which takes place well behind the scenes & beyond the eyes of little people, like us.
Horse sense tells the horse, that much.
Unfortunately, the fact Dubya will appear to be doing nothing to control all this crap & personified by the quisling mediots ad nauseum?
Quickly becomes the fodder & fuel for the tinfoil hat crowd.
Perhaps worse yet will be the (inevidable) coming of those who argue the parties are the same yadayadayada...
Makes it real hard to reason with these people, too; not, when they can easily pile-on other issues like illegal immagration et al, to buttress their position?
Damned hard, indeed.
Renders the *meaning* of, "patriotism, "sacrifice," & doing our part for the best of the nation's welfare almost a laughable counterargument at a time when that's precisely what's needed, most.
Drives me nuts, I swear.
"If 'W' is in fact obliged to do something, does it mean we are too far gone down the road to 'corporatism' to ever recover our free market system? A TRUE free market system?"
Maybe.
It's the outcome of that, "dance" I described which tells you & I that story, FGS.
Of course by the time we see this all play-out, are even able to deduce what's gone down?
The decision responsible & behind what we're looking at is already weeks/months/& sometimes years old, already.
"Would seem so, but it's all way above my pay grade."
HA!!
Well, mine too.
We need to do *our* role in all of this the best we can I guess
Which, is?
...to be STOOPID, STOOPID, STOOPID! ;^)
"The Rule" is Barbra Streisand and/or Julia Roberts...MUD
IMO, no one can touch Registered in the editorial graphics department.
Gramps gets my vote for always being there with a good story or two and lots of canny remarks.
I'll think of more posters later.
