Michael Eisner has dropped a double bombshell on Walt Disney's shares by announcing a federal probe of its boardroom and a surprise earnings reversal.
The company last night said profits would be about 20 percent lower than it announced four weeks earlier, blaming a box office flop of its new holiday flick, "Treasure Planet."

I have friends high up at Disney, who are untainted by the Gay Day nonsense or any of the animated flops. Trust me, Roy Disney is way out in front of this. He's letting Eisner put all of the right nails in his own coffin.
Treasure Planet should just about do it. Big heads will roll in animation first.

We sold our Disney stock back in the late 80's. Imagine my satisfaction when I made more auctioning off those Longaberger baskets (which I had left over from my days of being a sales rep) than what the Disney stock would now be worth! HA!
Early in the Summer, Roy Disney made it conspicuously apparent his annual winter vacation wasn't going to happen this year as it usually does. He was committed to resolving things by the end of the year.
The Angels' World Series victory may have had some unforseen side effects since Disney is looking to sell and Eisner was shamelessly high profile all Fall. That turn of events wasn't expected back in June, and may complicate considerations a bit.
But Eisner is going, going...
