DJ Bill Clinton Offers Post-Election Advice To Democrats

NEW YORK (AP)--Addressing Democratic leaders for the first time since their midterm election losses, former President Bill Clinton urged the party Tuesday to present a new, unified message with national security and a revived economy as priorities.
Clinton said a lack of clarity on those issues was where Democrats fell short in this year's races.
The former president said the Democrats lacked appeal to voters insecure after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The party also failed to attract those looking for a way to revive the economy, he said.
"When people feel uncertain, they'd rather have somebody that's strong and wrong than somebody who's weak and right," he said.
Republicans increased their narrow margin of control in the House and took back the Senate in the November elections.
"We have a heavy responsibility to cooperate in uniting this country on security issues, and also to come up with better ideas across the board," Clinton told a gathering of the Democratic Leadership Council, a national network of elected officials and community leaders.
"We don't have to be more liberal, but we do have to be more relevant in a positive way," Clinton told the audience of about 200 at New York University.
Going after terrorists should be the first concern in the Democrats' national security plan, Clinton said - even above pressing for weapons inspection in Iraq.
"Al-Qaida should be our top priority," said the two-term president. "Iraq is important, but the terror network is more urgent in terms of its threat to our security."
Clinton helped found the DLC in the 1980s to steer Democrats toward a more centrist image, championing a "third way" between the traditional left and right. The ideology is credited with propelling Clinton to the presidency in 1992.

Yep....goes to (once again) prove his everlasting disdain for the American people.

Hiding who you are won't make you more relevant. And when one isn't doing it with interns on a desk somewhere, Bubba's idea of a positive way for Democrats is to revel in juvenile behavior at a funeral service and spreading fear, division, hate and playing one group off against another to win votes before, during and after the elections. Speaking of a further contribution to the Left's positive way, just look at their whine. I hope that Bubba helps the Democrats remain relevant - in the minority.

LOL, BC never received more than 50% of the vote, (thanks Perot), and the Dems lost control of Congress in his first midterm election. How would he know anything at all about this subject???

He's telling it like it is! He was full of raging testosterone when he turned the White House into the Playboy mansion. Talk about really getting away with it!

Like he was all jazzed up to do anything about it when he had the chance, which is a major reason why we got in this position in the first place.
This joker is irrelevant

Good to know the Kool-Aid crowd in the party still hangs, along with the media, on his every word.

What they don't include in here is his quote that said (paraphrasing) "We lost some elections...so what?" and "They were close contests and we didn't really do that badly".
The whole time I was saying, "Keep that attitude, Billy Jeff". He is a hoot.

Bill Clin-Tong - "When people feel uncertain, they'd rather have somebody that's strong and wrong than somebody who's weak and right," he said.
Yeah, right! Do US all a favor and get lost.
