What this article is saying, without really spelling it out, is that the Democrats lost stature because it was obvious that their actions in office were focused more on retaining power than on doing what's best for the country. And all their publicized statements still focus on getting back their prestige than doing what needs to be done for the betterment of the country. Let's all hope that they keep this up, because if they do, the Senate is likely to become filibuster-proof come January 7, 2005.
