I work for a major mid-western university. I started checking "Native Amercican" several years ago. While several people have questioned me, "Hey, I was born here, that makes me native American", only one lady ever changed my form. She explained to me, in a condescending tone, that box was for "injuns" (her exact pronunciation)...
