Did anyone else catch the conversation the four star general was having...kept calling the person on the other end of the phone "sir". After hanging up he said something to the effect that he had enough to do in the field than just cover "junior's ass".

Since the series is now set in present day time, obviously he was referring to President Bush. (Who sent me a very nice post card from Crawford! No kidding!)

Yep. I noticed a couple of nights ago that we glossed right over the 90s. A bit in 92, then one scene or so in 96, but as far as evil shadow gov dudes reporting to the president goes (not to mention snide comments along the lines of "Junior" and "pretty boy"), we sort of left someone out in our rush from 41 to 43, didn't we, Steven?
