Iraqis Caught Moving Weapons Materials
Lehrer News Hour ^ | 2 December 2002 | John Burns

Posted on 12/02/2002 4:20:37 PM PST by mrustow

According to John Burns of the New York Times, now reporting on the Lehrer News Hour, weapons inspectors have determined that weapons equipment had been moved from a site without any accounting, and amid Iraqi denials of having moved anything. The equipment was known to UN inspectors, because it had been recorded during earlier, mid-to-late 1990s inspections. The Iraqis were obliged to notify inspectors every six months of any changes in the placement of the equipment. Burns says that the exact equipment has not been released.

>>My bet is that the balloon goes up sometime in early January.

I've had the first New Moon in January in the FreeRepublic pool for 3-4 months. That guess is looking better all the time.

"The good intel side of this is we know know where this stuff has been moved to..."

Word is, it's in storage on the 23rd floor of the Times Building...

According to Islam scripture Muslim, volume 1 (a book of Hadith- collection of Mohammed's sayings/commands), Footnote #486- The dog is of the unclean beasts according to Islam and eating eating its flesh is forbidden and its keeping in the house is also prohibitted for the Muslims. And in the Bukhari (another book of the Hadith) vol IV, no. 540- Allah's messenger (Mohammed) ordered that the dogs should be killed.

I've always thought Islam was despicable just for their disdain for Man's Best Friend, let alone all their other "issues".

WELL! I for one do NOT believe it! There was never ANY weapons equipment in the possession of the Iraqi government. However if there was ANY weapons equipment, then it was moved by mistake. Of course there is NO way to report something that either did not exist to begin with or was mistakenly moved if it did.

This time our air arm and the UK's besides destroying Saddam's weapons will be trying to target him, his command staff and other top Iraqi thugs during the heaviest 72 of aerial bombing in the history of aerial bombing.

I don't imagine Saddam will be any easier to target than OBL and Mullah Omar.

"Uncle Saddam's criminal activities often parallel those of Uncle Gray our head criminal of Kaliland?"

I just watched that black girl woman on PBS interviewing the reporter who kept saying how sure he was that the Iraqis would be able to explain all this since it was such a grave violation of omnipotent UN resolutions.

Good GRIEF!!! There are 10,000 comedians out of work and this guy was still tryin ta be funny. The smug little newsreader/achor finally told him bye bye and "be safe."

Hell, the fact that the media is able to keep up with the inspectors who try desperately to ditch the Iraqis so they won't know which site they're headed for... Proves this whole charade is as insipid as the Marines landing on the beaches of Samalia under the hot lights for the cameras under clinton's maladministration!

It's all so ludicrus... and for what? This is just like Korea and Vietnam with the diplomats and politicians running things in the ground until they become absurdimus maximus!!!

Depends on how you define "heavy". In terms of tonnage dropped, probalby not. Linebacker II comes to mind, possibly some "Maximum effort" raid in WW-II. But in terms of targets neutralized, quite possibly. We not only have "smart bombs" we have "smart airplanes" too, along with superbly training crews of course.

But not the walls that held the cameras? Sure. I still have no faith in the word of an Islamist.

Iraq isn't what you'd describe as an "Islamist" state. The guiding philosophy of Saddam and the Iraqi state is Baathism, which is basically a fanatical form of Arab National Socialism (Nazism) but which has nothing to do with religion. Baathism was invented by Michael Aflaq, a Syrian Arab Christian. Whatever pseudo-Islamic trappings the Iraqi state has (the lettering on their flag, added right before the Gulf War in a desperate attempt to curry favor from Muslims) etc. is superficial propaganda.

Might need a few of these, which just happen to "find" in a warehouse gathering dust. (Well and we contracted for a bunch more, including, a version for the B-2). It's a GBU-28 "Bunker Buster"

This is, I believe the version carried by the F-15E.

I've had the first New Moon in January in the FreeRepublic pool for 3-4 months.

I think the bombing will start sooner. New moon isn't really all that important for that, and I don't think it will start as soon as the next one, Dec. 4th.

The hardest part will be getting those inspectors to leave so we can start bombing.

Those inspectors are dead men walking.

COLLATERAL DAMAGE

Israel has already shown the UN the danger of being in the wrong place - When you are in a war zone, amid targets, it's not really much of a refuge when the metal starts to fly.

I happen to think that massive overt bombing will also involve ground observers and AH-64 Hellfire strikes, as in Gulf War I. Both of these operations like darkness.

Is that the one where the casing is made from an artillery tube?
