Why would "an air tight" case take nearly 3 years to come to trial?

Ask the Monagasque authorities. Their country, their rules.

Wear someone down for 3 years and then a "confession" comes.

That's an insult to every American POW who honored the Code of Conduct even after the most heinous tortures, beatings, and druggings that the N. Vietnamese could dish out, for a hell of a lot longer than 3 years. And most of them were "common" wing-wipers or aircrew - how much better should a Green Beret have stood up to such "torture."

I believe sneakypete said he checked that out and Ted Maher wasn't a Green Beret....sneakypete, am I mistaken?

You forget Nixon changed those rules.
At least be knowledgeable about what the rules are after Viet Nam.
