ACTON (AP) -- A York County woman wants to be paid for the moose that was killed by her car but given away by police.
Lisa Pierce of Acton said a York County sheriff's deputy may have thought he was doing her a favor because she's a woman -- but he was wrong. And now Pierce wants to be compensated for the moose meat that she says is hers.
Pierce hit the moose with her car on Nov. 5. State law says a big-game animal killed by a car goes to the person
who hit it -- as long as police are called and the vehicle is damaged.
Pierce said she knew about the law but lost track of the moose when three children riding with her were being treated for injuries in the accident.
In the meantime, a neighbor hauled the carcass away with a tractor. The neighbor wanted to be paid -- and when the moose was butchered, the price went up.
Pierce complained to York County sheriff's officials. Police say they won't give her cash -- but are willing to give her the next moose struck in York County.

"The police should agree to give the Moose Money " there is no "moose money, its just "common sense". usually there is a "call list", of locals that will come n haul off a carcass, so the "state" aka "taxpayer" doesn't have to "foot the bill".....
if the driver doesn't or can't remove the carcass, then, the call-out list is used....
c'mon, she didn't remove the moose; if she had driven home n left the carcass on the road; n you came along n hit it; would you still want her to "get the doe..."?

Was she trying to carve her initials in it? With a toothbrush?

A local artist was commissioned to sketch the collision.

Yes, I would believe, mewzilla.. and I went back to catch your nice reference to tort lawyers. (moose bites sister).
Sorry I didn't catch that.
I know you've been around a while. I should have looked at the name first before responding.
There have been many posts and replies from those new to the forum...

Loser is supposed to be spelled 'looser', and you didn't mention anything about your sister when referencing the moose.
