Twice in September, the government of Sudan bombed the community where Samaritans Purse operates a hospital. Those attacks were followed by a ban on relief flights that cut the support and escape lifelines for more than a dozen of our international relief workers. Meanwhile, Sudans civil war escalated and peace talks broke off.

Dr. Warren Cooper of Chicago is among dozens of international doctors who have served at the Samaritan's Purse hospital in southern Sudan. His tiny patient is among more than 100,000 who have been treated at the hospital in the last three years.
