"Slay them wherever ye catch them and turn them out from where they have turned you out; for tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter; ... Such is the reward of those who suppress faith !!!

And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression and there prevail justice and faith in Allah." "Justice," in the eyes of many ancient and modern Moslems, means the imposition of Koranic law !!!

"Faith" is understood to be FAITH IN ISLAM !!! Hence the passage instructs the pious to use slaughter to impose Koranic law and Islam, since slaughter is preferable to the continuance of non-Islamic codes and beliefs !!!

And you AGREE with this crap, Miss Marple ???

No, of course I don't believe it. Why would you think I did? Are you saying that people who understand why President Bush is trying to include the moderate Muslims in our society automatically believe in the Koran? That is hogwash.

I am a Protestant Christian, who believes in Jesus Christ as my Savior. I think Muslims are in error.

However, that does not mean that I think that we need to declare a fatwah on all Muslims, which is what many on this thread seem to be hinting.

Let me quote you a few things from the Book which I believe speaks the truth:

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Pride goeth before a fall, and a haughty spirit before destruction.
A soft answer turneth away wrath.
You ask how many times you should forgive your neighbor? Not seven times seven, but seventy times seven.
Peace on earth, to men of goodwill.
Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.

It seems to me that the President is living his faith, and those who expect him to start a religious war are foolish, indeed. I don't understand why so many people bite on DANA MILBANK's efforts to stir up conservatives, but that is what you are doing. Milbank writes about one or two stories per week in which he highlights divisions within conservatives, often using unnamed sources or twisting people's words. Then a bunch of people on this forum take the bait, run with it, and go ballistic. If you wish to continue to have your chain yanked by the Washington Post, be my guest. Myself, I believe that the President has reasons for everything he does, and in time you will see the wisdom of the course he took. Meanwhile, despite the rantings of those who want to act like Roundheads, I will continue to treat others the way I myself would like to be treated, as I am commanded by God through his son Jesus Christ.
