He was just taking off. He would have had no opportunity to evade except to pop flares and there was no report of that.
I wonder what the heck they are talking about?

Yup! I worked for another division of the company that made the IR jammers, way back when...

No Anti-Missile technology involved here...
At first glance: The dimwitted Terrorists were too close for their Missiles to aquire the heat source [if they were indeed heat seeking] after they launched.
More Arab incompetence/Grace of God keeps Israelis safe.

I don't think so.
Something like that is under development but won't be operational until next year.

Israel has air-defense technology on its airliners. We don't really have enough information to know whether it was used. And from this article, I doubt whether Ha'aretz knows.

Considering that the weapons used were SA-7s, I doubt that countermeasures were used. As others have pointed out, the SA-7 is only effective in a tail-chase, and your typical Boeing 7x7 aircraft doesn't have ANY visibility to the rear. Morever, the seeker on the SA-7 can be distracted by just about anything, and your typical civilian turbofan puts out a LOT less heat than your typical military jet engine.

Weapon experts and intelligence sources claimed today that it was secret defence systems installed on the Arkia airliner, not luck, that saved the passengers. LOL! This alleged attack never occurred in the first place.

I have a hard time buying this one.. unless the pilot knew it was being fired upon, which was highly unlikely at least in the first missle, he would not have activated any flares or decoys... Is it possible an automated system was triggered? Perhaps but not likely. Smells like conspiracy theory to me....
