Everyone ready for the truck bombs?

Isn't that SPECIAL..
In other words, they are SO concerned about "terrorism" that they need to restrict our liberties and curtail our protections under the Constitution, yet they allow trucks from Mexico free access....

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush gave the go-ahead Wednesday for Mexican trucks to travel U.S. roads beyond commercial border zones where they have been restricted while inspection sites and new regulations were put in place.
The decision comes nearly a year after Bush had said he wanted to allow Mexican trucks on U.S. roads, in compliance with a provision of the North American Free Trade Agreement. Mexican trucks and buses won't be on U.S. highways until the Department of Transportation can review applications from carriers. It must then grant qualifying carriers provisional operating authority.
"President Bush has made good on his commitment to open the border to international trucking and cross-border regular route bus service. This will help increase trade between our countries," Secretary Norman Mineta said in a news statement.

Mexico: the world's #2 source of cheap labor.
China is #1.

Goodyear, watch out, here they come!
To: Crusader21stCentury
These rustbuckets WILL be loaded with drugs and illegal aliens, plus their lack of safety can be expected to take some of us down on the roads. And, on top of all that, American truckers will now have to face cheaper competition in the labor force.
But hey, we're all getting rich ain't we?
To: Crusader21stCentury
Hell, all the trucks have already headed north...
To: Crusader21stCentury
In all fairness to W, NAFTA was negotiated to let those trucks in. Clinton subsequently pandered to union pressures to reneg. This irritated Mexicans, and that harmed our business interests. Hopefully President Bush has put adequate safeguards in place to keep the riff raff out and the commerce flowing though.

Cheaper street drugs lower trade defecit
Cheaper labor more economic growth
I'm sure there are more upsides
