Actually, this is in no way original with Rush. For many years now (don't know if they still do it) the WSJ has had an annual Thanksgiving editorial which tells essentially the same story.

True - but now millions upon millions now know the story. Not just readers of the Thanksgiving Eve WSJ editorial entitled "The Desolate Wilderness", which has run since 1961.

Even better is their Christmas Eve editorial "in hoc domini" or something like that - brings tears to the eyes.
