The Freepers donate that kind of money because they really are convinced and excited (read: deluded) that they are "piece of the action." They really believe that their online (and off-line) advocacy and organizing efforts are effecting political change. They like the idea that they are "part of the system" and on the side of a winning majority now that the GOP has re-taken the Senate and Bush sits in the Oval Office. No, I just enjoy reading things that other Freepers have posted. I also enjoy venting a little and posting myself. I have no delusions that my posts are effecting any "change." That is what my vote is for.

You might be surprised at what posting an otherwise obscure article on FR along with critical commentary can spawn in the form of public or private action. I know of several messurable changes in Administration policy (past and present) that have resulted by the issue being FReeped.
Don't discount the average FReeper's ability to initiate that kind of political change. Many of the great acheivement of FR have started by one FReeper posting something inspirational. Of course the real power comes to bear when thousands of FReepers actually act on that inspiration.
You might not get individual credit for the end acheivement, but you can take private satisfaction in that you were part of the solution, rather than just another apathetic statistic enabling the problem to fester.
Liberals like the dweeb that wrote this screed, do so because they fear us. And that alone proves that FreeRepublic works.
