It was not my child. I was working at the hospital. The babysitter was an uncle who was told specificly not to smoke He did it anyway. And I'll never forget the look on his face as long as I live when we wheeled the gurney out of ER on the way to the morgue.

Laws are worthless on this but so is denial. People need to know that smoking and excess perfume can cause problems with others. My daughter goes to a school with a child that is so asthmatic that he had to be taken out of school for home-bound study. And his mother smokes in the house and in the car with him. And his mother demands the government spend money to home-school him because he is so sick.

Difficult situation. How does the mother prevent contact
for her child in public? Grass, stores with perfume counters, potporri in stores, barbeque restaurants. Fumes from automobiles must be horrific. Much more dangerous than second hand smoke. Hard to avoid cars anywhere. Or worse, buses.
An asthmatic child has a tough life. 1200 things currently trigger asthmatic attacks. Hopefully someone will figure out a fix in the not so far future.
I had 2 brothers growing up with asthma in the 60's.
Anything and everything triggered an attack. Very scary stuff.
