Another welcome to FR, you commie! ;-)

It isn't all quite as clear-cut as some pretend; many here are adherents of such "liberal" values as civil rights for all, protection against government intrusion, and a profound mistrust of power granted to authority with insufficient oversight. These are, of course, also "conservative" values. Yet there are many in both self-described camps who are eager to sell these for a mess of pottage - you'll see that debate on a daily basis. Welcome to the fray!

Quite often, opinions/politics posted on FReepers are kind of like preaching to the choir. I enjoy a polite controversy now and then and learn from hearing different views. But then, anything a DUer might post here would only make me stronger in my own beliefs.

I recently visited DU and found two posters intelligently -- and politely -- presenting opposing political views. When the conservative poster was "tombstoned", I thought it a pity that DU is so intolerant.

I hope FReepers -- which I absolutely love! -- never becomes so narrow that all opposing views are banned.

(Besides, I love to see libs get trounced here on FReepers, 'cause FReepers do it best!)
