Why would the Chechen think NATO would be helpful to the Mujahideen? Hmmm?
They know NATO is a political group. So they are exploiting it just as the KLA did.

Yes but it was not quite like that.
NATO created the KLA. KLA did not force NATO into a war. NATO created the war with its tools of war (KLA).
NATO is NOT a political organisation. It is a military organisation.
