Would you mind expounding on what bad can come from not eating breakfast? Quite frankly, I have eaten breakfast ONCE this whole semester my freshman year of college (I used to always have cereal before leaving for school when at home). It isn't that I don't like breakfast. I love it. But, it is hard for me to get up in time to shower, get ready, and then run to eat breakfast. Instead, I barely have time to shower and get ready before I have to run to class usually. The only negative effect of not eating breakfast I have heard of is being less able in class. Quite frankly, this doesn't motivate me since I do just fine....I would think straight A's would not show my brain to be malfunctioning there....lol. But, if there are other health reasons you are aware of, I will bring myself to drag my behind out of bed early so I can eat breakfast. I do not want to screw up my health. Thanks for any info.

While I'm not a diatician,I would be happy to share what I've learned. I'm going to freepmail most of it cuz it's so long!

Here's a brief summary for those who are interested..

Think about people with diabetes, hypoglycemia and metabolic disorders.. They have to eat small meals ever 3-4 hrs to maintain a certain blood sugar level. A good balance of carbs/protein/dairy etc.. If they don't, they either have insulin problems, low energy/dizziness problems and faintness. I have the latter.. low energy, exhaustion and dizziness if I skip meals now. (thyroid/pituitary gland problems...I have to take meds for both. Thyroid is sort of like the brain of your metabolism..if you mistreat it enough after awhile it can cause you problems.) It's the pits.. NOTE:do athletes skip meals? no........... :) Our bodies no longer can go for hours and hours without food. Just like cars can't operate without gas.

Now what happens to healthy people who fail to give their body a food source for energy, after no energy source for 16 hrs on a daily basis for 20yrs? Pretend you don't eat while awake instead of asleep. It would be not eating from the time you wake up..say 8am, until midnight that night...every single day. hunger pains eventually will stop..but what is that doing to your body?

If you absolutely can't eat breakfast, you might consider drinking some juice real quick, and then grabbing a can of slim-fast. Not because it's a diet drink..but because of all the nutrition it provides. I know that at your age, I didn't care..I stayed up till 2 am every night studying..drinking pots of coffee.. and SMOKED. (well, I was in my early 20's when I went to school)

There are some interesting articles on the net about metabolic disorders, and skipping meals..

Here are a couple

I hope this provides a little insight.

I forgot to say, that if we fail to eat properly, certain parts of of our body can fail us..namely, the thyroid, the adrenal gland, pancreas..and more can be altered or weakened or they can permanently or temporarily malfunction.

(/preaching off)
