The founders gave us a constitution and a Bill of Rights. It is pretty plain that they wanted to restrict the role of government to ONLY those activites specifically allowed by the constitution

No sir. It is plain they wanted to restrict the role of the federal government only as evidenced by the 10th Amendment. Do I need to quote it for you? Rights reserved to the states. Is moral code covered by these United States Constitution? No. Then it is the right of the state to set some level of which the majority of its citizens feel comfortable. At least the men who wrote those laws felt that way. But they were only peers of the signers of the Constitution so surely they didn't have your wisdom to rely on.

My my, your attempts at sarcasm when you're on the losing side are very gratifying. States have constitutions also. Their purpose is the same as the fed's namely to restrict the governments activities. In fact there isn't a single state that doesn't have one. (and not a sigle state that hasn't exceeded its constitutional authority) Not having looked through every state constitution, I can's say for a fact that what is true for GA is true for all of them, but Ga's constitution likewise says nothing about it being the duty of the legislature to set public standards for morality.

Furthermore, it is disingenuous of you to suggest that the founding fathers were so fearful of government that they wanted to restrict the role of the federal government, but had no such qualms about the state governments.

My guess is that this lunacy was passed by moralistic idiots who believe masturbation is a sin and that women should not enjoy sex. I don't profess to have any proof of this.

In my state (Virginia), we still have a law that says I can be jailed for certain sexual acts with my wife in our own bedroom. It isn't enforced that way, but it can be. Most people in the state know this law is wrong, but the politicians won't do anything because they figure they won't lose any votes by leaving it alone whereas they MIGHT lose a few by getting rid of it. This has nothing to do with the will or the wishes of the majority; it has to do with with spineless, useless politicians who care about little more than votes.

Don't tell anybody, but my wife and I have been known to violate this law with impunity.
